With two integrations under its belt, it’s already clear to us the MONKEY™ API has the potential to benefit all of our customers - helping you integrate new or existing sales channels, and making your operational processes more efficient and dynamic.
In this newsletter, I’d like to share some of the uses that have already been found for this great new interface into MONKEY™.
Use the MONKEY™ API to bring in orders from mobile applications (Featuring LevelUP )
Mobile app developers can build applications against the MONKEY™ platform. The MONKEY™ API provides the menu and timing information configured within MONKEY™, and allows that to be fully represented within the mobile ordering experience.
Images, descriptions, and fully detailed menu configuration details are provided to ensure a consistent ordering experience for guests. Once the order is placed within the mobile experience, that order will get passed through the API and into MONKEY™ where it will be represented as any other where it will be ready to follow your existing operational process.
One of our partners, LevelUp, has already been hard at work as an early adopter integrating iPhone and Android applications with this workflow for Takeout orders. LevelUp builds “full-stack custom mobile experiences that give your customers everything they want in one beautiful app” and exposes Loyalty, Mobile Payments, Order Ahead and Gift Cards through their mobile platform.
Use the API to bring in orders from aggregator sites
This same essential flow can be used by order aggregators sites: use the API to pull in up-to-date menu and store availability, represent the menu as if it is native to the aggregator application, and then, when the order is completed, push it into MONKEY™. This means that, if you use an aggregator already, or plan on using one, you may never have to pass them a menu or pricing update again. The menu, pricing, images, descriptions and store availability is completely derived from MONKEY™. And once the order is completed, the order goes into MONKEY, alongside orders from other sources, so you can maintain a consistent, streamlined operational flow. No more calls, faxes or emails into stores: orders will be directly injected into the MONKEY™ back end.
Once the partner has placed the order within MONKEY™ partners will be able to recall orders they submitted to make sure that they have final details of the order even if your stores or agents modify the order within MONKEY™.
Use the MONKEY™ API to get pricing and product availability into MONKEY™
Using the MONKEY™ API, your Developers / IT Department can pull prices out of an existing system or platform and automatically push those into MONKEY™ by updating the appropriate Order Guide.
This would allow you to maintain prices and availability in one location and have them represented in MONKEY™. Alternatively, you could update the prices in MONKEY™ and use the API to see those changes and push them out to your other systems. Using this approach, you could have an item 86’d in one store’s POS and have that instantly reflected within MONKEY™ but updating that stores Order Guide to remove availability.
Coming soon: Menu Management using the MONKEY™ API
As we look forward to what is coming next with the MONKEY™ API we are targeting the ability to manage not only the Order Guides, but the actual Menu. We will be building in the ability to Create, Modify, and even remove Categories, Groups, and Menu Items.
This means that you will be able to easily specify selection groups, production items, mapping rules, portions, and POS configuration all through the API. This work will open doors that will allow tighter integrations with third party platforms, such as point of sale systems. It will allow for the automated synchronization of these configuration settings and have those changes push directly through into MONKEY™
In short, you will soon be be able to push an entire off premise menu into our system, without going through the trouble of setting up items and mapping within MONKEY™.
